The Salland region is perfect for cycling and at Landgoed Old Heino Holiday Park is surrounded by a network of cycle routes called The Cycle Network (Fietsroutenetwerk). It uses reference points and numbered signposts to guide cyclists around the region and has 400 kilometres of cycle paths leaving it entirely up to you to choose which road to take and how far to go.
A Warm Welcome
Wherever you choose to cycle to, our restaurant, Restaurant ’t HoogeHuus, will always give you a warm welcome. In fact, we have been awarded the Dutch national hallmark for friendliness to cyclists called the Fietsers Welkom! (Cyclists Welcome!). The restaurant has its own charging station for electric bikes for example, so whilst you recharge your batteries with a hot cup of coffee, your bike can do the same! Our reception also provides information about the cycle routes and is always happy to lend a helping hand.
An alternative to The Cycle Network is our very own On Track Tour. It starts from right outside the park and is a 50-km-long tour through the region’s country lanes, forests, heathlands and along the river Vecht. The route has been christened Saillant Salland (literally Prominent Salland) for its exceptional countryside.
On Track is the Netherlands’ largest online provider of walking, cycling and canoeing tours for sports and leisure enthusiasts.
Buitenluitjes are organic biscuits baked in Salland by the Consequente BioBakker bakers in collaboration with the Society for preservation of nature monuments in the Netherlands (Natuurmonumenten) and using produce from Overesch Organic Farm in Raalte. This regional speciality has given its name to a cycling tour that takes you past local restaurants and cafés including Restaurant ’t HoogeHuus here at Landgoed Old Heino Holiday Park. Don’t forget to stop and try the Buitenluitjes Biscuits!
If you prefer walking to cycling, there is plenty to see on foot too. Why not try one of the NS-tours or the On Track Old Heinopad path which starts right inside the park. We highly recommend a visit to the Sallandse Heuvelrug National Park where you can follow The Walkers Network, a new network of footpaths, signposted in the same way as The Cycle Network.
Why not combine your stay at Landgoed Old Heino Holiday Park with one of the local walking events. There is a four-day walking event in October, the Sallandse Wandel4Daagse and a four-day cycling event in June: the Fietsverdaagse Sallandse Heuvelrug.
